About Dorit Thies Photography
I’m a German-born, Los Angeles-based photographer. My photography has taken me from fashion and beauty to humanitarian work in Africa and fine-art exhibitions internationally. Today, I’m drawn to real people and their stories. I’m currently creating a portrait series of American truck drivers, exploring the lives of the people who keep this country moving. My goal is to turn this growing body of work into a book and exhibition.

- Lauro who lives in Riverside, California, has been driving a truck for over 48 years. His tours are from Mexico to Canada. He is a proud dad of 2 kids, 5 grand kids and 2 grand grand kids.

- Lee, who has been driving a truck across the US for over 20 years, lives in Phoenix.
- Dalton, 24 years old, is from Missouri. He drives from LA to Chicago and is transporting food in his cooling trailer. He owns his beautiful Peterbilt truck that has 700 HP.
- Diamond lives in California with his wife and 4 kids. He has been a truck driver for 4 years and his routes are on the west coast, keeping him close to his family.
- Nique is from Pearl, Mississippi. She has been driving an 18 wheeler Peterbilt for the past 7 months. Before that she was babysitting, doing food delivery and working in a nursing home. She has 3 small pitbulls at home.
